Mediapalooza on the Other Side
Mediapalooza on the Other Side Im currently a sophomore advertising major, which is a part of the College of Media here at Illinois. I absolutely love being in the College of Media because its a small college, so I get to know my professors and classmates extremely well. It even has a top-ranked advertising program, so that really enhances my College of Media experience. Every spring around this time, the college has a weekend for admitted students and their parents called Mediapalooza. Its a great event that includes presentations from professors and an RSO fair filled with College of Media clubs and organizations like Illini Media and the America Advertising Federation student chapter. When I attended as an admitted student, my favorite part of Mediapalooza was when I got paired up with a current advertising major who was a senior at the time. He took me on a tour of campus, we went to lunch, and he told me about his experience as a College of Media student. Thats what convinced me to come here. This year, I was honored to be asked to speak on a student panel full of College of Media majors at Mediapalooza. The panel took place Friday of last week. It was so cool seeing potential media majors and their families and answering their questions about what its like as an advertising major. I was on the panel with a passionate group of Illini, which made the experience even more fun. It was really cool giving back to the College of Media, and I recommend everyone does the same when they become involved in their respective college. I cant wait to speak on the student panel again next year! Daniel Class of 2018 Iâm an Advertising major in the College of Media. Iâm from a northwest suburb of Chicago called Buffalo Grove. I chose Illinois because it was the first university in the entire world to offer an Advertising major, which is pretty cool!
